The White House announced this week that it will send 100 Switchblade drones, known as Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems, to Ukraine. The Switchblade 300 model weighs about two kilograms, flies for up to 15 minutes at a time and is designed to be carried in a backpack, according to AeroVironment, the US manufacturer. The S-300 is a long-range surface-to-air missile system, formerly Soviet and later Russian, used to defend against aircraft and cruise missiles. The UK has said it is supplying an unspecified number of high-velocity Starstreak anti-aircraft weapons to Ukraine. The weapons, manufactured in Northern Ireland, are short-range surface-to-air missiles and are laser-guided to increase the chances of hitting their targets. It has a range of up to 4.3 miles (7kms).
